SASAMI has announced the details of her highly anticipated third album, Blood On the Silver Screen, set for release on 7th March 2025 via Domino Recordings. On it, the multi-talented artist combines her classical, conservatory-trained expertise as a player, producer, and composer with her fearless, bombastic stage persona to create what is arguably her most fully realised work to date: an all-out SASAMI pop album.
“This record is all about learning and respecting the craft of pop songwriting, about surrendering to illogical passion, obsession, and guiltless pleasure,” SASAMI explains. “It’s about embracing the chaos of romance and the sweeping devotion of romanticism—romanticism to the point of self-destruction.”
Nothing exemplifies this more than the wistfully optimistic album opener and lead single, “Slugger,” released alongside an explosive video directed by Crystalline Structures Studio. On the track, SASAMI name-drops Dolly Parton, Chopin, and Steve Lacy. Despite her background in classical music and production, she doubles down on her love and curiosity for pop music and popular culture on the record.
This autumn, SASAMI will embark on a series of European and North American dates, including performances at London’s The Lower Third and New York City’s Webster Hall.
